Grand Greens Challenge golf

Special Correspondent

BANGALORE: The inaugural Grand Greens Challenge golf tournament will be conducted at Hotel Intercontential in Goa on June 4 and 5. It has been decided to hold this event on an annual basis, with two teams — one each from Mumbai and Bangalore — battling it out for top honours.

The idea behind this event, according to the organisers, is to promote Goa as a golf destination with the Intercontinental being the only hotel that has an attached par 72 championship golf course.

Hotel Intercontinental, besides sponsoring this year's event, has also instituted a rolling trophy called the `Grand Greens Challenge'. The tournament between Mumbai and Bangalore will be played on a Ryder Cup format.

Representing Bangalore would be architects C.S. Harsha and Satya Prasad, hoteliers Snehal Kulshreshtha and Rakesh Mittal, president of UB Global Shashikanth, president of UB Exports Indur Hirani, cricketer Sujith Somasunder, real estate men Manoj Salian and Sandeep Madhavan, software pro Arun Pandurang, garment exporter Raghu Varma, neurosurgeon Arjun Srivatsa, entrepreneur D.S. Rawat, Cauvery Handicrafts CEO Ravindranath, and noted photographer, Narayan Murthy.
