NEW DELHI: Dilesh Khedekar of the Indian Audit and Accounts Department (IAAD) defeated favourite A. Maria Iruduyam of Indian Airlines to win the men's singles title in the Lal Bahadur Shastri memorial inter-institutional national carrom championship here on Friday. In the women's section, LIC's P. Nirmala upset world champion S. Appoorwa in straight games to win the title. PSPB and IAAD clinched the team titles. The results (finals): Men: Singles: Dilesh Khedekar bt A. Maria Iruduyam 2-1. Team: PSPB bt BSB 2-1 (Sandeep Deorukhkar bt Magsen Etambe 25-15, 25-19; Yogesh Pardeshi bt R. Arokiaraj 25-20, 25-12; Ashok Gaur lost to Sanjay Nagaonkar 20-25, 10-25). Doubles: Yogesh Pardeshi/K. Ramesh Babu bt S. Pomendkar/Narsing Rao 22-25, 25-13, 25-12. Women: Singles: P. Nirmala bt S. Appoorwa 2-0. Team: IAAD bt Reserve Bank of India 2-1 (D. Swarnalatha bt Shobhavati Kumar 25-16, 25-6; Rashmi Ranjan bt R. Sarita 10-25, 25-17, 25-22; R. Sharmila lost to Kavita Somanchi 8-25, 25-17, 7-25). Doubles: P. Nirmala/S. Appoorwa bt D. Sarwnalata/R. Sharmila 25-17, 25-13.
