BANGALORE: The Government will urge the Centre to extend to Karnataka the industrial concessions it has provided to Uttaranchal, Himachal Pradesh and the north-eastern States, the Minister for Industries and Infrastructure Development, P.G.R. Sindhia, has said. He told presspersons here on Monday that in the light of an expert committee report on industrial development in Dandeli, Tumkur, Kolar Gold Fields and Harihar, the Government will initiate measures to revive the industrial areas there. The Government will shortly initiate measures to develop infrastructure in 37 taluks at an estimated cost of Rs. 55 crores. Besides the Rs. 35 crores earmarked for the purpose in the budget, the Government will obtain a loan of Rs. 20 crores from the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) for the project, he said. An investors' meet will be organised in Mysore in October for finding solutions to the problems being faced by some investors whose projects were cleared earlier under various schemes, he said. The State is keen on hosting the "Pravasi Bharatiya Divas" next year to attract investments from non-resident Indians. It has written to the Centre in this regard. Mr. Sindhia said he is confident that the Ratan Tata who was in Bangalore recently, will decide on the Tata group making substantial investments in the State. The Chief Minister, N. Dharam Singh, will address representatives of various industry organisations, such as the Federation of Karnataka Chambers of Commerce and Industry and the Bangalore Chamber of Commerce and Industry and discuss their problems here on June 21, Mr. Sindhia said.
