BANGALORE: The police sometimes have to withhold some information about crime from the media to protect the victims, the Police Commissioner of Bangalore, Ajai Kumar Singh, said on Tuesday. Speaking at a programme to felicitate him on his appointment, organised by presspersons, Dr. Singh said that though people have a right to know about crime through the media, information is sometimes not given in the interest of ensuring the safety of victims of crime. "Not enough care is being taken in safeguarding the interests of victims," he said. Dr. Singh asked presspersons to emphasise the good work done by the police constabulary and give the credit due to them. Constables make up 87 per cent of the police force and it is they who do most of the work, he said and added that some praise about their work will uplift their morale.
