Maran flays inclusion of name in GH invitation
Special Correspondent
CHENNAI:
Union Minister Dayanidhi Maran has objected to the inclusion of his name in the invitation for the inauguration of the General Hospital building scheduled for Friday.
``Neither did any government official contact me nor did anybody seek my permission forincluding my name. The government seems intent on accusing me of boycotting the inauguration, knowing fully well I would be unable to attend it as I am presently in Finland holding talks with manufacturers of telecommunication equipment such as Nokia for investing in India,'' Mr.Maran said in a press release here on Thursday.
The move seemed aimed at earning him disrepute among the people of his Central Chennai constituency, he added.
Recalling that PWD Minister O. Paneerselvam had not participated in a BSNL function held at Dindigul a couple of months earlier despite an official written request, Mr Maran said had he been informed earlier he would have reorganised his schedule to be present for the inauguration as the new building was being constructed due to the efforts of his father, the late Murasoli Maran.
