Registration fee cheaper from today

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: Registration of properties in the State will become cheaper from Friday when the reduced stamp duty rates in the State come into force.

Apart from reducing the stamp duty, the Government also announced reduction in transfer duty collected on registration. The registration fee, the third component of the overall registration charges, will, however, remain at 0.5 per cent in all cases and in all areas. As a result, the registration charges combining the three components will work out to 9.5 per cent of the market value. The benefit of the reduction will be marginal in urban areas as the market values have been revised upwardly with effect from Friday.
