Nasik Press to continue as public utility service

Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI: : Services in the Currency Note Press, Nasik Road, will continue as a public utility service, under the Industrial Dispute Act, 1947, for another six months from Friday.

This is a public interest measure, said a Union Labour Ministry notification.

The Centre earlier made the declaration, effective for six months from January 15 last year, followed by two extensions each from July 2004 and January 2005.

The employees would have to give a six-week notice before going on strike so that conciliatory proceedings could be started. They could not go on strike during the proceedings.
