NEW DELHI: Idea Cellular Ltd. on Monday announced the launch of its mobile e-mail solutions allowing its subscribers to access e-mails on their GPRS-enabled handsets. While the push-based mail service is targeted at business users, the pull-based service will be of use to corporate subscribers. The push-based mail service will use any range of the Symbian and Windows-enabled mobile devices with GPRS connectivity. It has been priced at Rs. 750 a month. Similarly, the pull-based mail service, mainly of use to corporate users, will be available on any GPRS mobile phone where subscribers will be able to login and access their company mail anytime, anywhere. The service will come at Rs. 99 a month. Another service Mobile Mail is targeted at the individual subscriber to access his personal web-based e-mail through a GPRS-enabled handset anytime anywhere. The service will cost Rs. 30 a month. According to Vikram Mehmi, CEO, Idea Cellular, "Our suite of e-mail products have been introduced after a comprehensive research on e-mail usage patterns within various demographics. These mobile email solutions based on the GPRS platform offers a higher degree of functionality at a much lower cost as compared to any such solution available from any other operator. This suite of services is available to all Idea subscribers even while they roam in Idea circles and in Mumbai. There will be no roaming charges levied."
