MADURAI: R. Dharnikumar of Chennai and V. Srividya, also from Chennai retained the junior boys' and sub-junior girls' titles in the 47th Tamil Nadu State junior carrom championship here on Sunday.

The results: Junior boys singles: Final: R. Dharnikumar (Che) bt L. Silambarasan (Che) 25-23, 25-15. Semifinals: R. Dharnikumar bt S. Stalin (Che) 14-25, 25-12, 21-5; L. Silambarasan bt S. Ramanathan (Mdu) 25-9, 15-25, 25-18. Quarterfinals: R. Dharanikumar bt John Isaac (Mdu) 25-0, 25-1; S. Stalin bt B. Santosh Kumar (Cbe) 25-16, 25-21; S. Ramanathan bt G.D. Ashok Kumar (Che) 16-25, 25-20, 25-16; L. Silambarasan bt S. Vinodkumar (Cbe) 25-0, 25-17.

Cadet boys: Final: S. Ananda Narayanan (Mdu) bt K.A. Vigneshwaran (Che) 15-25, 25-15, 25-22. Semifinals: S. Ananda Narayanan bt S.A. Franklin (Mdu) 17-25, 25-19, 25-19; K.A. Vigneshwaran bt M. Saravanan (Cbe) 25-2, 21-25, 25-3.

Sub-junior girls: Final: V. Srividya (Mdu) bt S. Sarayu (Vgr) 25-7, 25-15. Semifinals: V. Srividya bt Aarthy (Mdu) 25-0, 25-1; S. Sarayu bt C. Priyanka (Mdu) 23-13, 25-13.

Eight share lead

At Sivakasi, eight players, including top seed V. Haribalu of Chennai, in boys' section and five players, including top seed R. Preethi of Madurai, in girls' section are leading with two points each at the end of the second round in the Tamil Nadu State junior (under-19) chess championship on Monday.
