Chandy's stand on Brahmapuram deal criticised
Special Correspondent
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:
Leader of the Opposition V. S. Achuthanandan has taken strong exception to Chief Minister Oommen Chandy's stand that he had no knowledge about the Justice V. Bhaskaran Nambiar Commission report on the Brahmapuram deal.
In a statement here on Thursday, Mr. Achuthanandan said the Chief Minister's statement indicated that efforts were on to exempt the former Electricity Minister C. V. Padmarajan from the ambit of the investigation into the case involving `loss' of Rs.271 crores to the exchequer. (Mr. Padmarajan is now vice-chairman of the State Planning Board.) The Opposition leader said anyone scrutinising the Bhaskaran Nambiar Commission report would find that there was gross negligence on the part of Mr. Chandy who was the then Finance Minister.
