THANJAVUR: A door-to-door survey will be conducted by the Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) of India in Thanjavur division to assess the reach of LIC coverage and provide potential service to consumers as part of its Golden Jubilee celebrations this year, said M.R. Balakrishna, Senior Regional Manager, LIC, Thanjavur division here on Thursday. Briefing presspersons, Mr. Balakrishna said that the golden jubilee celebrations started today and as part of the programme, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has launched the Bima Gold policy of LIC at Delhi. It offered a minimum insurance cover of Rs.40,000 with a view to fulfil its social obligation of helping the poor.In Thanjavur division various welfare measures have been initiated for the benefit of employees as part of the golden jubilee. Drawing competitions were conducted for students. During the year 2004-2005, the Thanjavur division achieved the first spot in premium collection by realising an amount of Rs.174.73 crores. In general, in terms of number of policies covered and number of policies added each year, LIC was the number one in Life Insurer of the World, Balakrishna claimed. Most of the investments of LIC were in Government sector and the company contributed a lot for infrastructural development. V. Subramanian, Marketing Manager, was also present during the press conference. The golden jubilee would be celebrated for an year from September 1, 2005 to August 31, 2006.
