CHENNAI: Southwest monsoon has been vigorous over north interior Karnataka.

Rainfall occurred at many places over north interior Karnataka, Kerala and Lakshadweep and at a few places over Tamil Nadu and coastal Andhra Pradesh. Isolated rainfall occurred over Telangana, Rayalaseema, coastal and south interior Karnataka. The following stations recorded heavy rainfall in centimetres: Shirahatti (Gadag dt.) 9, Mannargudi and Muthupet (both Tiruvarur dt.) and Tiruppur (Coimbatore dt.) 7 each. The other chief amounts of rainfall recorded in centimetres are: Adiramapatnam, Mayiladuthurai (Nagapattinam dt.), Illuppur (Pudukottai dt.), Kamudhi (Ramanathapuram dt.), Mettupatti (Madurai dt.) and Dharwad 6 each, Pattukottai (Thanjavur dt.), Vedaranyam, Perungalur and Tirumayam (both Pudukottai dt.), Valparai, Perundurai (Erode dt.), Natham (Dindugal dt.), Kozha (Kottayam dt.) and Thodupuzha (Idukki dt.) 5 each, Arimalam (Pudukotai dt.), Paramathi Velur (Namakkal dt.), Chittampatti (Madurai dt.), Tirupattur (Sivagangai dt.), Kottayam, Kavali, Mundagod (Uttara Kannada dt.), Badami (Bagalkote dt.) and Pandavapura (Mandya dt.) 4 each.

FORECAST (valid until Saturday morning): Rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at many places over coastal Andhra Pradesh, Kerala and Lakshadweep and at a few places over Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry, Karnataka and Rayalaseema. Isolated rain or thundershowers are likely to occur over Telangana.

Farmers Weather Bulletin for Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry (Forecast valid until Saturday morning): Light to moderate rain is likely to occur at a few places over all the districts of Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry.

Outlook for subsequent two days: No large change.
