VIJAYAWADA: Andhra Loyola College (ALC) will organise a five-day inter-collegiate literary and cultural festival called "Sphoorti" on its premises from September 2 to 6. Student teams from 42-degree colleges in Acharya Nagarjuna and Andhra University areas will participate in the competitions. Addressing a press conference on Thursday, principal of the college, Jayapalan, said that the college believes in the personality development of students rather than focussing entirely on academic success. He pointed out that "Sphoorti" festivals being organised by the ALC for the past 10 years had received tremendous response from the students. The theme of this year's "Sphoorti" would be "Quest for the best." The first day's competitions would be in group song and inter-collegiate skit competitions. There will be inter-collegiate quiz competitions on September 3, debate, essay writing competitions on September 4, personality contest on September 5 and folk dance competitions and valedictory on September 6.
