Rs. 10,500 cr. excise claim on RIL

AHMEDABAD: The Central Excise Department has slapped a notice on the Jamnagar refinery of Reliance Industries for recovery of duty and penalty of Rs. 10,500 crore. Neither the Central Excise Commissioner nor RIL was prepared to divulge the details of the notice and the reasons behind it. An official spokesman of RIL, however, confirmed having received the notice and said its legal department was studying it.
