VIJAYAWADA: Minister for Panchayat Raj J.C.Diwakar Reddy has appealed to leaders of the Congress in Krishna district to work hard for the success of the party nominees in all the five municipalities in the district. Mr. Reddy held discussions with legislators of various Assembly constituencies - Meka Pratap Appa Rao, Muddaraboina Venkateswara Rao, Kolusu Parthasarathy -- and Machilipatnam MP Badiga Ramakrishna at the zilla parishad guesthouse and also at Hotel Ilapuram. He asked the legislators to take the initiative to hammer out differences within the party groups and bring everyone together.
First list
The party's district committee is likely to announce its first list of candidates by Friday evening. Mr. Reddy held one-on-one discussions with some leaders and assessed the Congress' situation in the respective municipalities. Minister for Municipal Administration Koneru Ranga Rao and Minsiter for Higher Education Pinnamaneni Venkateswara Rao also accompanied Mr. Reddy.
Enquires
The Panchayat Raj Minister spoke to member of coordination committees of all the five municipalities in the district. He also enquired with the in-charge legislators, appointed specially for the municipal elections, about the party position in the towns allotted to them. Sources in the Congress indicated that the Minister assured them of "all the necessary help" to leaders who were overseeing the party's poll management.
