MAHABUBNAGAR: Arrangements have been completed for conducting elections in Mahabubnagar Municipality. As many as 114 polling stations were set up to conduct polling in 38 wards in Mahabubnagar Municipality. Fiftythree buildings were identified in the town to set up polling stations. As many as 709 polling personnel drawn from different departments were appointed. As per the 2001 census the town population is 1,30,986 among which 1,15,807 are eligible to vote. This special grade municipality has 59,085 men voters and 56,722 women voters. B.C. voters constitute 40.09 per cent while S.C. population is 6.4 per cent and ST'S share 1.09 per cent. The average ward voting strength is 3.047. Among the total 114 polling stations 21 polling stations each were allocated to men and women voters while the remaining 72 would be used by both men and women voters. Officials in municipality said that 150 Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) would be used for the elections. In Wanaparthy Municipality, elections would be conducted for 26 wards for which 48 polling stations would be set up. As many as 272 polling personnel would conduct elections by utilising 60 EVMs. The population of Wanaparthy Municipality is 50,114 among whom 38,630 are voters.
