Three killed in accident

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Three persons were killed in a multiple accident involving two scooters and a KSRTC bus at Pallichal-Paroorkuzhy on Thursday morning.

Rajendran, 57, and his wife, Kumari Padmam, 51, residents of `Sri Padmam,' Shantivila, Nemom, who were travelling on one of the scooters involved in the accident, were brought dead to Medical College Hospital (MCH).

Another scooterist, Reju, 25, of Perumbazhuthoor, Neyyattinkara, who was also involved in the accident, was brought to the MCH in a serious condition. Both his legs were badly injured in the accident. He later died in the operation theatre in the evening. The bodies have been kept in the MCH mortuary.

Impersonation: one held

A 33-year-old man was arrested on the charge of posing as an Excise Department inspector. Police said the accused, Sajeev, had threatened some ex-service men into giving him liquor bottles. He was produced before the court and remanded to 14 days in judicial custody.
