Road rules go for a toss

Chaos reigns high on the city roads. No doubt about that. Buses overtake from the wrong side, autorickshaws jump lanes and signals and two-wheelers hardly check traffic signals.

And all that ends up in long jams and choking city roads.

Former Union Minister Bandaru Dattatreya who lambasted the departments concerned for failing to check the traffic chaos and end the jam-regime lamented at the time that one is forced to spend idling vehicles during snarls.

"Such is the situation that one might reach his destination faster on bicycle than in cars," he said, in a satirical tone.
