Review plea rejected

Legal Correspondent

NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Tuesday rejected a review petition against a judgment that upheld the appointment of the former CBI Director, P.C. Sharma, as member of the National Human Rights Commission.

A three-Judge Bench, comprising Justice K.G. Balakrishnan, Justice B.P. Singh and Justice S.B. Sinha, dismissed the petition filed by the People's Union for Civil Liberties (PUCL) against the April 29 judgment.

A three-Judge Bench, comprising Justice N. Santosh Hegde [since retired], Justice B.P. Singh and Justice S.B. Sinha, had rejected the PUCL argument that the public perception of the police was so poor that the organisation was considered a violator of human rights.
