QUESTIONS ON INDIA: Vincent D'Souza at the World Tourism Day inter-collegiate quiz on Monday. Photo: K. Pichumani
CHENNAI: : The folks at Incredible !ndia used the upcoming World Tourism Day, September 27, to get people racking their brains about the wonders of India with a quiz. Which served the purpose of the day fine since the idea is to promote "Brand India". Vincent D'Souza of Mylapore Times played quizmaster.
Four teams
There were four teams in the finals of the inter-college quiz that was held on Monday. The boys from Loyola topped the field in six rounds. Vivekananda College and New College were tied for the second spot. Ethiraj College, the only girls' team in the show, came in third. The prizes will be revealed during the World Tourism Day festivities at the Government Museum on Tuesday. The questions ranged from national parks to temples to Indian art. The Loyola boys dove right in, taking the lead almost immediately. Mr D'Souza categorised the questions set by the "tourism people" in two ways; they were either googlies (tricky) or laddoos (easy). After giving the New College boys a few laddoos that they did not answer, one of them said in exasperation, "One man's food is another man's poison."
