Protest against Speaker's decision to not allot additional time to S. R. Balasubramoniyan

CHENNAI: Congress legislators on Wednesday staged a walkout from the Assembly, protesting against Speaker K. Kalimuthu's decision to not give more time to Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader S. R. Balasubramoniyan.

When the Speaker told Mr. Balasubramoniyan to conclude his speech, the Congress leader said he wanted additional time as he had not completed what he wanted to say. Mr. Kalimuthu pointed out that he had been given more time than he had sought. The CLP leader said there were several interventions. However, the Speaker called on Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam's Arcot N. Veerasami to speak next.

Mr. Balasubramoniyan and his party members staged a walkout in protest.

Funds for Andipatti

In his speech, Mr. Balasubramoniyan asked how much money was spent for Theni district, particularly Andipatti which has been represented by Chief Minister Jayalalithaa, for the last four years.
