TAMBARAM: Nearly 50 teams from men's and women's colleges are competing in SMRTI 2005-2006, an annual inter-college cultural competition, at the S.N.D.B. Vaishnav College for Women, Chromepet.

R. Partheban, film actor, inaugurated the three-day competition on the college premises on Wednesday. More than a dozen events, including mehandi, bridal make-up, Gita recitation in Sanskrit, classical music among others, would be held.

Film actor Kausalya would attend the valedictory celebrations on Friday.
