Ironical

That a Government headed by the Congress, the party that fought the divide and rule policy of the British and the communal award during the pre-independence days, has provided 5 per cent reservation to Muslims in educational institutions and government employment in Andhra Pradesh is ironical. Reservation on the basis of religion is nothing but politics of appeasement. Besides, it compromises quality. Parties continue the reservation policy, and include more in the net, just to increase their votes without taking into account the pitfalls.

T. Raghuram,

The move is yet another example of minority appeasement. When Muslims have all along enjoyed equal opportunities in education and have never been socially discriminated against, what is the need to reserve seats for them in education or employment?
