Not quitting TRS, says Santosh Reddy

Special Correspondent

Ex-Minister hopes KCR, Narendra will resign from Cabinet after Bihar polls

WILL THE ELATION LAST?: TRS MLAs — S. Santosh Reddy and G. Vijayarama Rao — entering the Legislative Assembly in Hyderabad on Thursday.

HYDERABAD: Telangana Rashtra Samithi MLA and former Transport Minister S. Santosh Reddy has dismissed as "a figment of imagination" reports that his relationship with the party leadership is strained.

He said he would continue in the TRS. Mr. Reddy, who defied the leadership's decision to quit the State Cabinet before falling in line in July this year, said he expects TRS president K. Chandrasekhar Rao and A. Narendra to resign from the Union Cabinet after the Bihar election.

That was the impression given to him when he was asked to resign from the State Cabinet along with five other TRS Ministers.

The idea is to build pressure on the TRS' demand for separate Telangana by resigning from the State Government in the initial stages and, if things do not improve, from the Centre later.

On his return from a 40-day tour of the US here on Thursday, Mr. Reddy expressed anguish at reports attributing motives to his foreign trip in the midst of the municipal elections. He said he had gone abroad for a health check-up.

Talks only way out

Mr. Reddy took exception to his name being dragged into the controversy after two other party MLAs — Mandadi Satyanarayana Reddy and D. Srinivas Rao — revolted against the leadership for the debacle of the party in the elections.

The former Minister said that it was through consultations that differences could be sorted out and political strategies reframed to overcome shortcomings. Questioning the president on failures did not amount to undermining his authority, he noted.
