Innovative methods to check spread of AIDS epidemic

Call for participation in the campaign

KHAMMAM: Local MLA and convenor, Andhra Pradesh Legislature Forum on AIDS M.V. Ramana Eao, said the Government was trying out innovative methods to check the rapid spread of AIDS.

Addressing a the rally of the student volunteers who took part in the nine-day long AIDS Chaitanya Yatra in the temple town of Jamapalpuram, he said Andhra Pradesh was the second worst hit in the country.

He called for the involvement of all the prominent personalities in the campaign that was aimed at fighting the disease. He emphasised the need for sufficient support for the organisations fighting AIDS in the State.

Iluri Vekateswar Reddy, Chairman of the Bhadrachalam Temple Trust Board said that the AIDS patients were not able to get the much needed care and support in the villages.

People had many apprehensions about the diseases. The problem had to be tackled by educating rural masses.
