HYDERABAD: A Division Bench of the High Court made it clear all such works of the right canal of the Polavaram (Indirasagar) project which need clearance will not be taken up until appropriate permissions from the authorities are obtained.
Petitioners' version
Districts whThe Bench comprising acting Chief Justice Bilal Nazki and Justice R. Subhash Reddy were passing interim orders in the writ petition filed by Saibaba Rhythu Samskhema Sangham represented by G. Pochaiah. The writ petitioner's association representing farmers of West Godavari and Krishna o are affected by the right canal brought to the notice of the court that until the main project was completed the so called canal could not become operational and it would take another ten years and till this date no final clearance had been obtained for the project from the competent authorities. The petitioner said if no permission was needed for the right canal there was no need for the government to hold a public hearing last week which itself was `eyewash.' The Bench was not inclined to pass a blanket order for all works pertaining to project and canals.
