Conspiracy behind crisis, says TRS

Party leaders refuse to pin blame on YSR

HYDERABAD: The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) saw a "conspiracy" behind the developments in the party saying it came at a time when it had effectively taken the Pothireddypadu head regulator issue to people.

Addressing a press conference, party MLA N. Narasimha Reddy and spokesman K. S. Ratnam refused to attribute the crisis to the Chief Minister or the Congress but said there were forces which were trying to weaken the party as indicated by the timing. They expressed confidence that the crisis would blow over and the party would emerge stronger.

They defended the action against S. Santosh Reddy as he had been showing indiscipline for over a year now. He had "betrayed" a party that changed his political fortunes.

His actions were suspect ever since he participated in the State Formation Day in Nizamabad against the party's decision to observe it as "Black Day." The TRS Legislature Party meeting was put off as legislators were busy with the cooperative elections.

    The other view

On the other hand, Mr. Santosh Reddy, at a separate press conference, refuted the charge that he acted against the party's interests. "All I demanded was a frank discussion on the reasons for the party's poor performance in the municipal elections." The decision to participate in State Formation Day function was after consulting other Ministers representing the party.

He said the 140-member State Committee's strength was reduced drastically and packed with those who came from the Telugu Desam.
