Survey work on canal project begins

HYDERABAD: Survey work on the proposed 143-km tunnel for the A. Madhava Reddy Canal project began on Tuesday at Srisailam dam after a puja.

This is in fulfilment of the Government promise to enable the canal to draw water from Srisailam dam and flow into Nalgonda district by gravity. At present, the canal draws water from Nagarjunasagar through a lift.

The survey work has been awarded to Jai Prakash Associates. Y.P. Giridhar, its CEO, promised to complete the survey within a short time.
