Collector concerned over increasing road accidents

Calls for strict implementation of rules concerning wine shops

Sangareddy: Medak district Collector B. Venkatesam, who addressed the district safety committee meeting here on Wednesday, directed the officers to strictly implement rules on `dhabas' and wine shops abutting the national highways in the district.

He expressed concern over the increasing numbers of deaths in recent days particularly in Zaheerabad, Chinnakodur, Gajwel, Kukunurpalli, and Vargal. He has asked the Roads & Department to undertake repairs of roads on a war footing. He has sanctioned Rs. 2 crores for this purpose.

Civil works, road markings, studs and metal crash barriers would be undertaken for safe driving on the roads. District SP B.L. Sujatha Rao, R&B Nizamabad circle SE Simhagiri, executive engineers Nageswara Rao and Harshavardhan Reddy and Excise Superintendent N. Sailaja attended the meeting.
