HYDERABAD: The stabbing of a Congress activist in a clash with Telugu Desam supporters at Nakkaladinne in Kurnool district and attempts to rig votes at some places marred the second phase of elections to the primary agricultural cooperative societies in the State on Wednesday. Eightysix per cent of an estimated 15,000 voters in this phase cast their vote in 799 out of 1,468 societies. Elections to 609 societies were unanimous while polling was postponed in 60 other societies following complaints. Following the stabbing of a Congress supporter, Pratap Reddy, at Nakkaladinne, party workers retaliated by attacking the houses of Telugu Desam leaders, resulting in injuries to 10 persons. The police confined former MP of the Telugu Desam Bhuma Nagi Reddy to his house to pre-empt possible trouble in Chagalamarri. At least 10 persons were injured when workers of the two parties clashed at Ramannapet in Nalgonda district. Congress workers snatched away ballot papers at Bodduvaripalli in Guntur district, forcing stoppage of polling for an hour.
