Kakinada: Communist Party of India(Marxist) town unit leader and district secretary of the CITU Duvva Seshu Babji has blamed the Government for allegedly working against the interests of farmers with regard to acquisition of land for ONGC refinery and Special Economic Zone. Mr. Seshu Babji said here on Friday that acquiring fertile land in the vicinity of the port leaving the Government and other lands available at a cheaper rate near Thondangi was certainly against the interests of farmers.
Poll promises
Recalling the poll promises made by Chief Minister Rajasekhara Reddy to work for the welfare of farmers, Mr. Seshu Babji wondered whether depriving the farmers of their fertile land to benefit industrialists can be called a pro-farmer measure.
He urged the Government to take a decision keeping in view the interests of the farmers.
