VISAKHAPATNAM: Energy being the vital factor accounting for 20 per cent of the cost of production in any industry, entrepreneurs must adopt energy efficient measures to compete in the global market. This was stated by the Joint Development Commissioner of Visakhapatnam Special Economic Zone, M.V. Subba Reddy, on the opening day of the three-day All-India Energy Efficiency Capacity Building Programme here on Wednesday. The programme is being organised by the Federation of AP Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FAPCCI) in collaboration with the New Delhi-based IRG Systems South Asia Private Limited, and with the support of the World Bank and IREDA. "Renewable energy sector is growing, thanks to the Government support and increasing private sector investment," he said and lamented that most of the industrialists were not aware of the procedures concerning energy efficiency and incentives offered by Government agencies to industries.
