CHENNAI: Levi Strauss (India) Private Limited (LSIL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Levi Strauss & Co., San Francisco, has launched `Levi Strauss Signature,' its latest collection of men's denim bottoms, men's casual pants, woven and knit tops, women's denim bottom and knit tops. According to ATP Ramani, Head, the company will be launching the brand initially in the South and by the end of next year the rest of the country. It plans to have 200 exclusive outlets and 1,000 multi- brand outlets. In the first phase, it will be launching the product in 150 towns. The company will be setting up nine exclusive outlets in the South. Already there are two exclusive outlets in Chennai. . The company appointed Poshak Industries as the first licensee for making Signature brand products. LSIL will be targeting the standard segment by making available the products in the price range of Rs. 599 - 999. Speaking on the occasion, John Anderson, President, Asia Pacific division, said the business in Asia Pacific turned out a good performance. The company launched the Signature brand in the U.S. in 2003 exclusively for consumers who shop in the mass channels such as Kmart, Wal-Mart and Target. In India, Signature was being targeted to attract the standard segment, which accounted for 27 per cent of the total jeans business.
