BANGALORE: The Aeronautical Society of India has organised an "Aero Sports Jamboree 2005" on December 17 and 18 at the Jakkur airfield. Flying enthusiasts, hobbyists, amateurs, aero modellers, flying training institutions from India and abroad, aero sports equipment manufacturers and others are expected to participate in the event. The Jamboree will include skydiving by "Air Devils" of the Indian Air Force and a flying display by the helicopter team "Sarang". Flying displays of microlight aircraft, powered hang gliders, paramotors, paragliders, motorised gliders and light aircraft will also be organised. The flying will be carried out by professionals and experienced amateurs. A "microlight cross-country safari" will be organised from December 3 to 5 under the auspices of the Kites Chapter of the Aeronautical Society of India Bangalore branch. In November 2003, as part of the centenary celebrations of the first manned flight, the society organised a national-level air race. The Jamboree's main objective is to spread awareness of aviation among the general public, particularly youth.
