HYDERABAD: Union Statistics and Programme Implementation Ministry Additional Secretary R.C. Panda has asked State Governments to prepare Panchayat Raj (PR) Yearbook with statistical data of `panchayats' on the lines of the municipalities.

The statistical register with grassroot level database will help identify strengths and weaknesses, enabling officials to chalk out developmental plans.

While in municipal areas, the yearbooks was done with six to seven parameters, the same was not done for PR institutions, which have funds and handled 29 subjects, he said. Mr. Panda told reporters on the sidelines of a four-day Southern States workshop on `State income and related aggregates' organised by the Directorate of Economics and Statistics and the Central Statistical Organisation (CSO), inaugurated here on Monday by the Finance Minister.
