Rose show selects its royals

ANGRAU bags maximum number of prizes

HYDERABAD:
`Brandy' was adjudged King and `Primadonna' became his Queen at the XXX Annual Rose Show organised by the Department of Horticulture here on Sunday and Monday.
While the King was a rose variety submitted by the Directorate of Oilseed Research the Queen was grown by Alka Sanghi. In overall performance it was the Acharya N.G. Ranga Agricultural University which hogged the limelight, walking away with the maximum number of prizes.
The prizes were given away by Anil Punetha, Commissioner, Horticulture. More than 200 varieties of roses in various colours and fragrances were displayed at a hotel here. Over 6,000 rose-lovers visited the show over the two days.
Prize winners
The prize winners are: Shakti Nigam, D. Padma (flower arrangement), Shakti Nigam (Ikebana), Indira Park (best rose garden), Sanghi Gardens (best private institutional garden) and Durga Nursery (best collection).
