HYDERABAD:
Profound sentiments of achievement, joy and gratitude encompassed the campus of St. Mary's High School at Secunderabad here on Monday as the institution celebrated a staggering 120 years of service in the field of education.
"This is a historic occasion for us," declared the principal, Father Bernard, to a large gathering of students, parents, teachers, former principals, well- wishers and officials of the Hyderabad Archdiocese Educational Society on the school premises on St. Francis Street.
Even as the chief guest of the occasion, Secretary, School Education, P. Krishnaiah, took his time to reach the venue, another dignitary on the dais, Archbishop of Hyderabad, Rt. Rev. Marampudi Joji, was celebrating a different occasion along with the school"It's going to be 34 years since Rev. Joji's ordination on December 14," announced Fr. Bernard.
Cultural events
The congratulations and felicitations over, it was time for the young ones to take centre-stage. And that they did in style with a host of colourful dances and other cultural programmes.
Physically challenged students and financially disadvantaged children were also not forgotten as the school doled out quite a few goodies to them in different forms.
