Patient's death triggers protest
Staff Reporter
HYDERABAD:
An elderly woman's death at Cantonment Hospital in Bollaram triggered violence as her irate relatives damaged the hospital's furniture on Sunday night accusing the doctors of negligence.
A retired Central Government Employee Mangamma, 70, of Adarshnagar developed complications around 8.30 p.m. Her family shifted her to the hospital where the nurse told them the night duty doctor had gone for dinner. However, since the woman's condition was deteriorating, they rushed her to a private hospital in Matcha Bollaram where she died after a few minutes. Alleging that Cantonment Hospital staff's negligence resulted in the woman's death, the angry mob attacked the hospital.
