Top aerospace scientist dead

HYDERABAD:
Akella Kameswara Rao (76), one of the top aerospace scientists of the country, died here in the early hours of Saturday following a massive heart attack. Kameswara Rao is survived by wife, three sons and a daughter.
A graduate from Andhra University, Prof. Rao's contributions came during his long stint with the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, where he was instrumental in laying foundation for aerospace and space programmes in India. He was closely associated with Satish Dhavan, A.P.J. Abdul Kalam and P. Neelakantham.
A recipient of several national and international awards, Prof. Rao, who was a consultant for global companies like Boeing and Lockheed Martin, was also instrumental in setting up of Lockheed Martin International Research Institute at IISc during the 1980s.
