Leaders call for peace and unity

HYDERABAD : Governor Sushil Kumar Shinde, Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, Telugu Desam president N. Chandrababu Naidu and Global Peace Initiative president K.A. Paul underlined the importance of peace at a function organised in connection with Christmas celebrations here on Monday.

Describing Dr. Paul as the messenger of Jesus Christ, Mr. Shinde said that India needed philosophers and religious leaders, who talk of unity of the country and global unity.

Dr. Rajasekhara Reddy lauded Dr. Paul's effort to spread world peace and extended Christmas greetings to people. Mr. Chandrababu Naidu said that all religions preached peace and called upon people to strive for welfare of society.

Dr. Paul said that India should lead the world.
