8 hurt in freak train accident

KURNOOL:
Eight passengers were injured in a freak train mishap at Dhone railway station in Kurnool district on Tuesday evening. Three of them, including a woman who was rushed to the General Hospital here, sustained serious injuries.
According to reports, the accident occurred when railway staff members were trying to attach a spare engine to the passenger train (303) which was proceeding to Hubli from Guntur. The diesel loco which was hauling another loco to the stationary train got detached from each other and rammed into the coaches. Under the impact three coaches jumped the rails a few feet up and rested back on the rails.
Two women-- Ramadevi and Salimabi-- got their legs fractured while another woman Sobha sustained a head injury. A dozen persons sustained minor injuries.
