Vandemataram centenary fete contests from December 24

HYDERABAD: Vandemataram Centenary Celebrations Committee will conduct essay-writing competitions for post-graduate, graduate and Intermediate students, apart from tournaments in kho-kho, table tennis and cricket.

At a press conference here on Wednesday, committee chairman and former Judge G. Bikshapathi and convenor G.R. Karunakar said, while kho-kho and table tennis would be conducted for high school boys and girls in Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy districts, the cricket matches would be for students in engineering and medical colleges in the said districts.

A competition schedule said that the essay-writing competitions for graduates and post-graduates and Intermediate students would be conducted at HRD College, Narayanaguda, on December 24 between 12 noon and 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. respectively. Kho-kho matches would be held at Keshav Memorial High School Grounds, Narayanaguda, between January 4 and 7, while the table tennis games would be held at Mahavir Institute of Science and Technology, Bandlaguda, Keshavgiri, between January 5 and 7.

Winners will get prizes at a function at Rotary Park, near Vivekananda Statue on Tank Bund on January 12, Swami Vivekananda's birth anniversary. Minister for Sports and Culture M.
