A date with Kong

Sudhish Kamath

CHENNAI: If you are a Peter Jackson fan or a King Kong fan, you have all the reason to cancel your dinner date, for Kong is coming to town a day ahead of schedule.

The premiere of the much-awaited Peter Jackson's remake of `King Kong' will happen at Sathyam Cinemas on Thursday night, with a balcony dedicated to celebrities and special invitees.

Tickets are still available over the Net at thecinema.in or directly at the counter from Thursday morning.

Mediapersons who had a sneak preview of the movie on Wednesday seemed pretty excited. The buzz is that the movie is a must-watch for kids, a sure-fire entertainer for those who love monster movies and special effects. The trade expects the film to do exceedingly well in India.

The new King Kong is three hours long, 80 minutes longer than the 1933-original and stars Jack Black, Naomi Watts, Adrien Brody and Andy Serkins (the soul behind `Gollum' of The Lord of the Rings) as the model for the big ape.

This Universal Pictures movie comes to India within a day of its world-wide release.
