Housewife robbed at `gunpoint'
Staff Reporter
CHENNAI:
An intruder brandishing a fake gun broke into an apartment in Velachery and threatened a woman resident into handing over Rs. 28,000 and valuables on Wednesday evening. Adyar Deputy Commissioner of Police Baladandayudapani said 32-year-old Anuradha Rao was with her 12-year-old son when she heard someone knocking the door.
When she opened the door, the intruder forced his way in and threatened her with a gun.
He then took away the cash and valuables from an almirah in the bedroom and escaped.
The gun was later reported to be a dummy pistol.
Ms. Anuradha is the treasurer of the apartment association. Of the Rs. 28,000 lost, Rs. 18,000 belonged to the five families living in the complex.
When her husband Raja Rao returned home, he lodged a police complaint.
