Computer award for Velammal group of schools

CHENNAI:
The Velammal Group of Schools has received the third State Computer Literacy Excellence Award for its initiative to implement information technology and foster computer literacy among staff and students.
M.V.M. Velmurugan, CEO of the Group, received the award for 2004 from A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, President, in the presence of Dayanadhi Maran, Union Minister for Communications and Information Technology, last week.
The award function was held at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi.
The computer literacy excellence award was instituted to encourage schools on four IT fronts: to implement information technology in school curriculum; to improve computer literacy among staff and students; to ensure high standards IT Infrastructure and to encourage social contribution to the spread of IT literacy in government schools.
The Velammal Group of Schools has received the honour in recognition of its continued efforts to usher in the best and the latest in IT education.
