200 seven-seater drivers take out a procession from Kothapet Drivers protest against police ban on movement of seven-seaters on city outskirts
HYDERABAD:
An autorickshaw driver, who climbed atop a high-mast light post and threatened to jump down protesting against the police ban on movement of seven-seaters on the outskirts of the city, kept the police on tenterhooks at Dilsukhnagar for more than an hour on Wednesday.
The agitated seven-seater drivers who were already organising a road blockade became restive and police had to use mild force to disperse them. Protesting against the orders, about 200 drivers had taken out a procession from Kothapet and reached the busy Rajiv Chowk by noon.
While the demonstrators were busy, Narasimha, 25, silently scaled the 15-feet high light post.. Narasimha threatened to jump down if his demand was not met with. Saroornagar Inspector M. Chandrashekhar, after contacting higher-ups, persuaded Narsimha to come down.
