Rice procurement

Kakinada: Rice procurement is in full swing and so far millers supplied 68,000 tonnes of rice to the FCI towards levy, according to Shaik Madar Saheb, District Civil Supplies officer. He said rice-millers had purchased 3.10 lakh tonnes of paddy till now paying Rs.20 over and above the minimum support price of Rs.427.60 per bag to the ryots.

Though the paddy purchase centres were opened by the FCI and the Civil Supplies Corporation, the purchases were virtually nil.
