HYDERABAD: The Governments of the United Arab Emirates and Japan have evinced interest in the knowledge corridor abutting the Hi-Tech city proposed by the State Government. Mines, Geology and IT Minister P. Sabita Indra Reddy told the Assembly during question hour on Monday that the knowledge corridor spread over 20,000 acres in Ranga Reddy and Medak districts was being conceived by the State Government with public-private participation.
To cover 34 villages
It would extend from Kanammet near the Hi-Tech city and culminate at Kollur in Medak district. The corridor would cover 34 villages, she said. She said the plan was in the initial stage. The design of master plan and budget preparation was yet to be made. It was proposed to rope in internationally acclaimed IT firms to participate in the project. Various agencies would be involved in creating the basic infrastructure while the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation would be the nodal agency. In reply to a question by D. Sridhar Babu (Congress), she said the Government had no plans to develop knowledge corridors in tier-two towns.
