Glendale Academy is organising a seminar on Brain Compatible Learning on Saturday where noted academics will share their views on upbringing, management and education of children. Anjum Babukhan from Chicago will introduce the concept of the subject while Shashank Vira will talk on total quality education.

Brainstorming

session of NRIs

A group of Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) from the United States and representatives of NGOs from various States attended a brainstorming conference on sustainable development in Indian villages ahead of Pravasi Bharatiya Divas here on Friday. The conference was organised by Illinois-based India Development Coalition of America. The participants discussed issues connected with health care, sustainable livelihoods, education and water management at round-tables. It came up with an action plan suggesting decentralisation of education sector whose policies were outdated, said Jay Sehgal, executive director, S.M. Sehgal Foundation, Gurgaon.

Old-age home planned

The city-based Guru Kondaveeti Jyothirmaye Central Trust plans to establish an old age home for the parents of NRIs who lived in Andhra Pradesh. The first phase of the home to be located at Kanchikacherla, near Vijayawada, will be completed by March this year. It will be located amidst a temple complex, vedic school and garden, according to a press release issued by K.C. Rao, chairman.
