Five injured in police firing

AHMEDABAD: Five persons were injured in police firing and about a dozen policemen and others sustained injuries in stone throwing at Dholka, about 100 km from Ahmedabad, on Saturday.

The Dholka police raided a place on hearing that cows were being illegally butchered in the locality. Even as the police seized some cows and were herding them out, the local residents confronted them and indulged in heavy stone throwing.

The police fired six rounds to disperse the violent mob.
